Appraisal Services

On occasion even when ADR Florida does our best to reach an agreeable compromise the insurance company will dig in their heels. When this happens, we look to the Conditions section of your policy to verify what contractional obligations the insurance company has for just this circumstance.

If your policy has an appraisal clause that allows ADR Florida to move the claim into appraisal this is what you can expect:
  1. Depending on the appraisal provision either Josh Keller will be appointed as your appraiser or ADR Florida will be forced to hire someone else outside of our company. If we are forced to hire someone else, you can expect that expense to run at least $1,500.00.
  2. Once appraisal is demanded, most insurance policies allow the insurance company 20 days to name their appraiser.
  3. After the two appraisers are named, normally the insurance policy stipulates an Umpire must be agreed to within 15 days. If the two appraisers cannot agree on an Umpire, then a court may have to appoint an Umpire.
  4. Most appraisals handled by ADR Florida do not enlist the services of an Umpire to resolve the claim. If an Umpire is required to get involved, each party splits the costs. At a minimum, that costs will be $1,500.00.
  5. The two appraisers will inspect the property again in person.
  6. Then the two appraisers will attempt to reach a fair value of the required repairs. One important note is that appraisers do not interpret coverage. Their job is to just identify what requires repairs.
  7. If the two appraisers reach an agreement then the claim is resolved.
  8. If the two appraiser cannot reach an agreement, they enlist the Umpire to try and move everyone to consensus. In the end the Umpire produces an appraisal award and if one appraiser signs that award, the claim is resolved.
